We went to Armand Bartos’ final exhibition before closing their doors to operate by appointment only. They chose to end on a high note with Andy Warhol’s soup can series following the artist’s role in transforming the Campbell’s Soup brand into an American icon. Limited edition prints and objects like an actual tin can were on view as were a few treasured relics.

We were invited to attend a panel discussion hosted by Sotheby’s and the Economist for south asian art experts. Rashid Rana, one of South Asia’s foremost contemporary artist, and Pooja Sood, Director of Khoj discussed the role of art today. The evening was moderated by Ron Diorio, Vice president of product and community development at economist.com.

HLAA went to check out the inaugural Artist Project fair on March 17th, 2011. It is the first fair featuring only emerging artists. We felt is was a good attempt to give artists a platform outside the gallery system but energy was low.

Linda Blumberg, the Executive Director of the Art Dealers Association of America, talks to Heidi Lee at the Hub Culture Pavilion with Sportmax. They represent art dealers all around the country, and recently started an initiative called ‘50 Artists for 50 States,’ which allows artists to donate works of art to a museum and get a tax deduction for the market value of the work of art.
